On Social Medicine

Welcome, friends!

Recent events have underscored to me the importance of communication in matters of health and scientific research. To that end, I’m setting up shop here to help us make sense of the chaos all around.

In these early days, I plan to discuss current events through the lens of my areas of expertise: race and health. Later down the line, I look forward to inviting questions from you, my readers, about topics that I might have initially missed in the moment. And eventually, I would be thrilled to invite my friends and colleagues to contribute on topics in their wheelhouses.

I chose the name of this blog not only because it captures well the contours of my academic expertise, but also because it is clear our society needs a medicine of some sort. I do not claim to offer the cure, simply a cure. One that I hope helps you better navigate the present moment.
